Uropathology - Case 3

Description:

A 28 years old young man from Jemen came to an internal medical checkup to the General Hospital of Vienna. Clinical presentation was unremarkable, except a slightly reduced size of the penis and the absence of one testis from the scrotum. Secondary sexual characteristics, such as beard growth or voice were normal and also blood tests, beside elevated levels of luteotropic hormone and 17ß estradiol. The man had no children and had an old abdominal bullet wound, which made interpretation of abdominal ultrasound difficult. An operation because of cryptorchidism followed.

Macroscopy: Resected tissue presented as round to ovoid, firm, 3: 1,5: 1,5 cm tissue with adjacent ductal structure of 5cm length.

Histology: Microscopy revealed a small uterus with atrophic endometrium without ovaries, but with uterine tube and remnants of epididymis.
