Uropathology - Case 7
Description:
18 year old male patient presented with enlargement of the right hemiscrotum due to epididymal tumor of unknown duration, which was surgically removed.
Macroscopy: the resection specimen with smooth, glistening, and partially fibrosed surface weighted 118g and measured 7x6x5 cm in largest diameters. On the cut surface, the yellow -white, soft and partially cystic tumor was visible, with only partial preservation of epididymal structure.
Microscopy: Highly cellular tumor with high mitotic activity and atypical mitoses was composed of round/ovoid cells with scarce or moderately abundant cytoplasm.
Therapy and follow up: Histological diagnosis was followed by right orchidectomy and chemo/radiotheraphy. After follow up of more than 6 years the patient is well and without any signs of disease.
