Description:
A 62-year-old woman with a history of ovarian serous carcinoma treated by operation and surgery (10 years ago) and sarcoidosis of the lungs and mediastinal lymph nodes (1 year ago) was diagnosed with splenomegaly. A bone marrow biopsy was performed with changes suggestive of chronic myeloproliferative disorder. Therefore, splenectomy was performed. Macroscopically, spleen was enlarged (185 x 125 x 80 mm) and weighted 774 g. The hilar veins were thrombosed. On cut section, focal darker discoloration of parenchyma was apparent.
